  • HR 3696 - Increase Military Personnel Act
    Rep. Ellen O. Tauscher (D-CA)
    If enacted, this law would allow the U.S. military to temporarily increase the number of active duty personnel they employ.

  • S 89 /HR 163 - Universal National Service Act
    Sen. Ernest F. Hollings (D-SC) &
    Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-NY)
    Under this act, all young people, men and women, would be required to perform a period of mandatory service for their country by joining one of the branches of the armed services or one of the other agencies charged with protecting the homeland.

  • Strategic Defense Initiative (Star Wars)
    This orbiting, interceptor missile system is the single largest item in the Pentagon budget, pulling over $10 billion next year and $53 billion over the next 5 years.   Component tests are currently underway and President Bush has called for its deployment before the 2004 election.
